Steve Borthwick has made four changes to his England side for the highly anticipated clash against South Africa in the Autumn Nations Series.
Scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet is in for Ben Spencer, while Freddie Steward starts at full-back in place of George Furbank.
The Leicester duo have yet to feature in the Autumn Nations Series but will make their bows against the back-to-back world champions.
“Jack is a player that was playing a lot of games for England prior to the World Cup in 2023 and then had that nasty injury,” Borthwick told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He has worked exceptionally hard to come back from that.
“He had a couple of niggles last season and probably wasn’t quite at 100% but from what I have seen in training the last couple of weeks, the speed of ball Jack brings to the attacking game is exceptional and he is right up to his very best.”
Borthwick added: “It is the right time to bring Freddie in for this game. He has trained really well and played really well for his club so far this season.
“George is available and I’m pleased with what he has done in the last couple of weeks but I felt it was a physical game for him last week.
“South Africa kick more contestable kicks than anybody else in the world. It means you have to be very good under the high ball and have to be good in chasing the high ball.”
As part of the backline reshuffle, Ollie Sleightholme makes his first start on the wing with Immanuel Feyi-Waboso missing out through concussion.
The other change comes in the forwards, with Sam Underhill replacing Tom Curry, who is also out with concussion after taking a nasty head knock during the defeat against Australia.
Borthwick and his players are under pressure after successive close defeats against New Zealand and Australia.
England have lost five of their last Tests and have slipped to seventh in the world as they prepare for rugby’s ultimate challenge.
The Springboks reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the rankings after beating Scotland in a thriller at Murrayfield but will be hoping to put on a better display at Twickenham.
South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus has made 12 changes to his side, with captain Siya Kolisi returning to the starting XV.
The sides last met in a dramatic Rugby World Cup semi-final last year that South Africa eventually won 16-15 before going onto lift the Webb Ellis Cup.
